I'm Paula, and I'm on a journey to become a full-time artist.

To read about my 2024 goals go here!

In January 2023, I set 6 goals to achieve independence through art. I'm thrilled to share that I've checked off 5 out of those 6 goals while juggling my full-time and part-time jobs.

Throughout this adventure, I've uncovered my unique artistic voice, found my niche on Instagram, and had the incredible opportunity to showcase and sell original artworks at my first art show. Not to mention, I've started a long-term portrait series to keep track of my progress with portrait drawing.

This past year has been nothing short of amazing and I'm eager to keep growing and creating as an artist. Join me on this exhilarating ride!

Style

Surrealism holds a special place in my heart, as it allows my subconscious thoughts to guide my creative process, allowing me to embrace the flow of artistry. This journey has allowed me to fall in love with expression through symbolism, empowering me to create and speak to a wider audience. I consider my current art style:

Science-Fiction Inspired/Space Surrealism

A great part of my journey has been watching my art style develop. Visit here to see how it has changed over 2023-2024. I started 2023 using a pastel pallette working with minimalism and then quickly moved into, what I termed, Intercosmic Bubblegum Surrealism and now I’m into sci-fi inspired/space surrealism with a backdrop of a black starry sky.

I completed my 2023 Men in Colour Portrait Series with 22 portraits. Now in 2024 I am working on Men in Colour 2.0 switching from markers to acrylic paint. There are currently 4 portraits in 2.0, making a total of 27 to date.

What’s Next

A key part of this journey has been collaborating with other artists and creatives to grow and learn more about the industry. I am embracing every opportunity that comes my way and consistenly pushing myself

out of my comfort zone

has been vital to my journey. This led me to showcase at my first art show in Toronto of July 2023 with positive reception; snowballing into other opportunities and checking off more goals. In September 2023, I launched my online portfolio. In November 2023 I filled my first international order. In December 2023, I performed my first live painting and launched my online store. My most recent update includes playing around with video editing in an effort to enhance my content. Stay tuned for upcoming interviews with local toronto creatives on my social media!
